An Introduction

Who am I?  I am a 24 year old American woman, who happens to have a great fascination with and eagerness to learn all about China, its culture, and its history. I cannot be certain what was the catalyst of this love, or how I have come to be on this path.  Actually, my heritage is mostly Irish and English, which makes people and myself sometimes wonder why I have not made learning about my own background much of a priority.  This I cannot answer.  As we cannot always explain in life whom we love, I cannot explain what I love, nor why.  Perhaps it is the exoticism, the idea of learning about a culture that is so vastly different from mine.  Maybe in learning about the history, culture, and people of a country on the other side of the world I feel a little more connected to mankind.  Or, it could just be, that this is simply apart of who I am.  But, what I can say with the utmost certainty, is that I have never felt more myself than since I began to delve into the journey of learning about the magnificent Middle Kingdom.
